We’ve compiled every artist featured on our site this year into this poll for you to choose who you think should take home the gold in 2023. We’ve seen some formidable acts win big in recent years. With Jamie Hancock, the rapper known formerly as SVN winning in 2015, to Alamo Records signed artist Trevor Daniel winning it in 2016, and cloud rap collective BLVCKEMPiiiRE winning in 2017, we are excited to see which artist you the viewers will recognize as Artist of the Year for 2023. Oklahoma native artist Exxo KB recently dropped a heartfelt tribute album dedicated to his mother. ‘Forever My First Love’ submerses you in a deep ocean of feels right at the intro where you hear the young artist stewing in the booth, a harbinger for the ride the next 30 minutes will be. ‘Forever My First Love’ is a journey of growth, sacrifice, and unwavering love. It’s filled with a range of emotions, from chill vibes to high-energy moments.
Exxo KB previously released 3 other projects, one being his debut album. After losing his mother in November 2022, his latest project was crafted with care and put into words movingly all of the thoughts racing through his mind. Exxo KB’s album was produced and mixed by Dallas artist/producer Lord Red.

TikTokers do their best impression of viral ‘Mama don’t worry’ rapper, Superstar. The clip of the rapper went viral after viewers began to take notice of the artist’s odd-styled haircut. TikTokers began uploading videos of themselves with different objects taped to the back of their heads, thus the ‘Mama don’t worry’ challenge was born. With each video posted on the trend, the objects get more and more ridiculous. The whole thing is quite light-hearted.
One TikToker who has amassed millions of views on his videos is @yourfavchocolatee, and for good reason. The young videographer’s videos were so hilarious, we decided that he is the winner of the ‘Mama don’t worry’ challenge.
NHMO: So, who are you and when did you start making videos? What made you decide to do the challenge?
Nabil: I’m Nabil and I started making the videos on 3/6/2023. I usually don’t use TikTok I just use other social media. But on that day, I got bored and my friend came over to hangout, so I just decided to download the app to make some videos. So I was scrolling through the app and suddenly saw people are doing the “Mama don’t worry” challenge and tape stuff on the back of their heads. So I found it funny and I told my friend let’s do this trend ASAP and see how we will do. So one of my friends has a truck; I borrowed his truck to do the first video. From there the videos went viral and blew up over TikTok and Instagram. I couldn’t believe it. So I kept on doing it. I did a plane, tank, truck, lion, goat, dinosaur, cactus, ocean, a rocket, Mars, Earth, beluga plane, rhino, train, and NASA rocket. From there, my TikTok blew up and became famous, took over the trend, and got 100 million views in just 2 weeks on TikTok.
NHMO: Had you listened/ viewed Superstar’s viral song and video before making your parody? What were your honest initial thoughts on the music video?
Nabil: Yes, before I even did the trend, I had the song downloaded on my phone. The song was too fire.
NHMO: Your parody by far is one of the funniest. In fact, we would say you won the challenge! How did you come up with the scenarios in your parodies?
Nabil: I just planned to beat everyone on the trend, because the trend was who can go bigger so I went crazy on the trend.
NHMO: Do you think anyone can top your video? What do you think a content creator would have to do in order to top your current title of winner of the challenge?
Nabil: So far, I didn’t think anyone can top my videos. I’ve seen a lot of content creators do it and I’m still the top #1 with the most viewed and viral videos. So I feel comfortable with my tittle. I just think all these content creators need to quit doing the trend because it looks like I own the trend now.
NHMO: Has Superstar reached out to you? Do you think he’s seen your parody?
Nabil: Superstar hasn’t reached out to me. For some reason, I just did the trend that people were doing, and I made the song blow up and go viral. I can pretty much say, yes, he’s probably seen my videos. Of course, he’s probably wondering how his song blew up (laughs). Welp because of me as you can see.
NHMO: We hope you continue to give the world more of your comedy! We look forward to it. What do you have planned next?
Nabil: I’m looking forward to doing more content and give the world more happiness and show them that I can make other music/songs/ trends etc. go viral too. So far, I’m still planning to do something next. It’s coming soon.
A Psychic Sees Kevin Samuels Nearly A Year After His Passing
Kevin Samuels is a name that stirs up a mix of different opinions. He lived a life on YouTube and other social media sites that drew a lot of debate, criticism, and at times controversy. His opinions on life, dating, money, and relationships are chronicled through his extensive library of videos and livestreams. To some, he was a father figure who gave practical advice to men and women on how to get along in a modern, Western society; someone who taught people how to be the best version of themselves. To others, he was a harsh critic who spread vitriol towards women. One thing is for certain, Kevin Samuels, in his short rise, had proliferated a plethora of content that continues to be watched, reuploaded, and examined.
Much has been said about how Kevin Samuels lived, but what do we know about how he died? The 57 year-old influencer collapsed in his high-rise apartment shortly after complaining of chest pain. He could not be resuscitated. According to reports, the cause of his passing was hypertension. Does the story end there? We have heard from a psychic medium who would like to keep their identity a secret. This medium’s clientele consist of a range of celebrities and public figures. The medium, who we will call Tanya, has stated that she saw a vision of Kevin Samuels after his passing.
It was just a week after his passing she proclaims to have seen the late Kevin Samuels sitting in a small room, a business office. “He was sitting alone in that office, much like how he would in his videos”, Tanya claims. She stated that Samuels “looked like he had a lot on his mind and was deep in thought”. Perhaps the social media influencer was trying to make sense of what had happened. Nearly a year has passed from the time of her first vision. Recently, Tanya has come out to say she has had yet another sighting. This time, she proclaims of a very different Kevin Samuels. She claims to have seen Samuels in a sports car accompanied by two women. He was gleeful, with a large wristwatch on his wrist, as he gripped the steering wheel of the car while speeding. “He was driving in what looked to be a raceway, and Mr. Samuels looked to be enjoying himself.”
Like much of Kevin Samuels life, the psychic’s claims are up for debate.
Houston, Texas: Producer, Ramxes (Ramses) has released yet another beat tape and it’s a canvas splash of musical sound. Your mind is the canvas as the funky baselines, addictive guitar/ piano riffs, and atmospheric sounds are the paint Ramxes uses to create a new Pollock-esque mural. The opening monologue of the album sets the tone of the project immediately as it details the journey you are about to partake on. A centerpiece track of the album, ‘Paradigm Pristine’ is a real treat featuring some dope vocal work by featuring artist, CAABO. The song feels like a real shift in the album, an upbeat change of pace of the album, it feels almost like a beautiful paradigm, or paradigm shift have you. Once Ramxes transcends the listener on ‘Paradigm Pristine’ he takes you into a heavily pensive place with ‘Jacob’s Ladder’. Its addictive melody is beautifully haunting. Also featured on ‘Tetsuo’ are some hot remixes of tracks from previous albums by producers, Black Nintendo and Dan.
Dave Chappelle Tackled During Show, Jamie Foxx Rushes Stage
Comedian Dave Chappelle is doing relatively well after a man rushed the stage during his Los Angeles show, and tackled him. The video, posted by On Demand News shows the man making impact with Chappelle. Police and security are seen chasing the man and eventually hauling him away in an ambulance as onlookers booed. In typical comedic fashion, the 48-year-old comedian made light of the event, still making jokes as security was gaining control of the situation. Apparently, Jamie Foxx had rushed the stage to aid the Netflix is A Joke comedian. Chris Rock, who suffered a notoriously, dirty slap from Will Smith at the Oscars this year, was in attendance. He briefly took the microphone after the attack, simply to say, “Was that Will Smith?”

NHMO: Hello guys, great to talk with you today. Well, first things first, “Who is Hotel Ugly”, in your own words?
Hotel Ugly: I’d say Hotel Ugly is the culmination of a musical passion product created by the two of us. From music to creating any and everything for the band, it’s a piece of us and we try to make it as authentic to who we really are as much as we possibly can. It’s us personified through music.
NHMO: The band’s name stands out a lot. How did you get the name?
Hotel Ugly: The band’s name is based off of a real hotel located in downtown Bryan, Texas. While the name of the real hotel isn’t Hotel Ugly it was a large inspiration for the name. The reasoning for why we picked “Hotel Ugly” is a secret that we haven’t shared yet. We like to keep it a secret to keep the mystery of the name alive.
NHMO: How did this band form and when?
Hotel Ugly: The band formed initially formed in 2019 just as a way for us to collaborate artistically as brothers. We both musically craved something new and true to us. Once the music started flowing it was natural to try and push out more and more tunes. We were also just following our dreams and hoping one day we could make them happen.
NHMO: Who are the members of the band and what instruments do you play?

Once the music started flowing it was natural to try and push out more and more tunes. We were also just following our dreams and hoping one day we could make them happen.
NHMO: Where are you guys from? Where did you grow up?
Hotel Ugly: So, we’re brothers, same mom and dad. Mike had a good 3 years of life living in New Jersey before Chris was born. Right before Chris was born our parents moved to Florida and we spent 9 years of our life there. We moved to Houston around ’08/’09 and have been calling the Houston area home since then. We both loved growing up in Texas it’s where we both think of when someone asks, “where is home”.

NHMO: What were your favorite pastimes as children? Favorite Christmas and why? I know, Christmas is a ways off.
Hotel Ugly: Since we were young, music, sports and video games we’re our past times. We eventually got to an age where we realized music was not only a thing to pass time but our dream lifestyle. Shout out to our dad though for trying to make us pro soccer players like he was. We still got some time maybe we can still make it happen if the Dynamo wanna sign us.
NHMO: What would you say influences your musical palette?
Hotel Ugly: We have so many artistic influences not only musically but in terms of overall creation. Musically there are so many, From Tame Impala to Guns and Roses. We try to pull inspiration from anywhere we gravitate to. In terms of image and creating, we absolutely love Tyler the Creator and Blink 182. They both have images and art that’s so unapologetically “them”. We hope we’re able to portray that in our own ugly way.
NHMO: Who are your favorite bands of all time?
Chris: Blink 182, easily have listened to them almost every day since I was in the 6th grade.
Mike: Guns and Roses, Tenacious D, Finger Eleven, Slipknot.

NHMO: How has the global pandemic affected your music?
Chris: At the time the pandemic hit, me and mike were living together so in a way it almost made us closer and forced us to pump out tunes. Having to essentially be isolated together meant we could spend a lot of time working on music together. It was definitely a tough time for all of us but looking back at it, we managed to make the best out of it and create some killer records.
NHMO: Between the both of you, do you have any passions or obsessive interests outside of making music?
Hotel Ugly: We definitely to have passions outside of music. We’re both creators at the end of the day. We’ve talked about potentially creating clothing lines, making films, directing a movie, and a whole load of other things that revolve around us being able to use every creative medium we can to express ourselves. As far as hobbies, we both still enjoy playing soccer, playing video games, League of Legends, FIFA and Call of Duty are a few of our favorites.
NHMO: What does a typical day in the studio look like for you guys?
Hotel Ugly: A typical day in the studio isn’t even a day at all. Most of our best, creative sessions take place late at night. It’s a whole different vibe then. We’ll spend anywhere from 1 to 12 hours making a song, composing the instruments and writing lyrics. Some days are more creative than others but if the vibe is there well spend all night locking in to finish a song.
NHMO: What has been your craziest inspiration for a song?
Hotel Ugly: Craziest inspiration for a song would probably be one we’ve never released. It was heavily inspired by western folk tale imagery with a super psychedelic touch. It was also one of the most fun to write due to the headspace we put ourselves in to inspire the lyrics. For stuff like that you really have to use your imagination and write from a fictional place in your head. We also may or may not have a song coming soon about a mannequin. But that’s all we can say on that (laughs).
NHMO: You have a song titled “Shut Up My Mom Is Calling” How do your parents feel about your musical aspirations?
Hotel Ugly: Our parents are super supportive about our musical journey; they’ve always been supportive of us and are our number one fans. Our dad even went on tour with us for our first 4 sold out shows. It’s super cool having them be apart of this chapter in our lives.
NHMO: Can you talk about the time your dad first heard your music?
Hotel Ugly: The first time our dad heard our music was great. His reaction to hearing his boys make music, and it actually being good, is a memory we’re both probably never gonna forget. He was over the moon and has been supporting us nonstop ever since.
NHMO: People are getting turned on to your music via streaming services like Spotify. What do you feel is resonating with new listeners?
Hotel Ugly: Our only explanation for how we’ve gained so many new listeners is that the music must be pretty good (laughs). It’s good to know we’re doing something right, musically. In addition, once the algorithm began to pick up a few of our songs, it really gave us the exposure to keep gaining listeners and fans organically which is something we’re super proud of because at the time we barely had a budget to promote on Instagram let alone a huge platform like Spotify. It’s a blessing and it all came naturally.
NHMO: What projects are you working on today?
Hotel Ugly: Today we have a bunch of songs in our vault waiting to be released. We’re not quite sure how big of a project we wanna put out yet but as of now we’re pretty happy with releasing singles until we finally make up our minds.
NHMO: A lot of the tracks we hear from you guys sound very much like soundtracks. Will there be more visuals or short films in the near future?
Hotel Ugly: We would absolutely love to make more visuals surrounding our songs, we have so many ideas we’re sitting on. Once we’re able to expand this vision further we’d want nothing more than to have a movie’s worth of visual content to go hand -in-hand with our music. It’s one of the many directions we hope to take Hotel Ugly in the future. We also have a killer videography and creative team waiting for the moment. Shout out Adrian, Sammy, and Purp!
NHMO: Let’s talk about your upcoming performance in Houston. But first, how would both of you describe your relationship with the city?
Hotel Ugly: The Houston area is our home, it’s where we spent most of our childhood growing up. Unfortunately, the music scene for our genre isn’t that popping in Houston but we hope to help pave the way and inspire other Houston musicians along the way. We love just about everything this city has to offer and want nothing more than to put it on the map when it comes to indie music.
NHMO: How would you describe your Houston shows/ fans?
Hotel Ugly: The Houston show was a dream come true, selling out Warehouse Live in our hometown was something we never could have dreamed of. The fans in Houston are amazing, some of the best crowd energy there is. We’re so blessed we’re able to preform and be loved by the people of Houston and it’s something we’re both gonna be for ever grateful for. Our Houston peeps aren’t fans they’re family to us.
